The Zermatt Hospitality Group was established in 1996 as the operational arm of the Burgergemeinde (burgher council) Zermatt, which is made up of a pioneering group of Zermatt families who nurtured the birth of tourism in the region in the 19th century.
It was those families who built the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof as a community project in 1879 and have since continued to acquire and manage the most iconic hotels and restaurants in the area, from grand hotels to mountain lodges and from Michelin-starred restaurants to self-service outlets as well as engaging in retail trade and real estate Today, the Zermatt Hospitality Group is the leading employer in the region with approximately 300 employees from 30 nations.
